Pigs selected for high lean growth exhibit increased anxiety in response to humans
Human-Animal interaction: HL increased latency to approach within .5 m of human (P < .01), entered less often (P<.01), and spent less time within this area (P<.0005).
Open field: No genetic differences detected for any measures
We are currently investigating the neural and immunological correlates of these behavioral differences, which may be reflective of increased anxiety in HL pigs.
